Welcome to Gertrude Designs. My name is Jess, and I'm the face and creator behind GD. I've been making polymer clay earrings since 2020 and love having this creative outlet outside of my regular job. I live in Darwin, Australia, but have lived and travelled in a few different countries prior to settling here. If I'm not making earrings you'll find me on a run, reading a book, at the gym, or spending time with friends. I'm so grateful you've stopped by to browse my creations - I hope they give you as much joy as I get from creating them.

How did Gertrude Designs start?
I wanted a very specific pair of orange earrings to match a dress I owned and could not find the right pair. So I decided to make them myself! Ironically I didn't even end up wearing the earrings I made but in the process completely fell in love with creating earrings. My friends gave me the push to start to sell the extra pairs I made, and so Gertrude Designs was born.

Why the name Gertrude?
My brother decided to rename me when we where teenagers - I had the choice between a few names and naturally I chose none of them. Josh persisted with calling me Gertrude, and eventually it just stuck. My actual name is Jess, though I will answer to Gert as well 😊

Where is local pickup?
Local pickup can be arranged for Nightcliff, Berrimah, or from ARC Energise, a cafe at 56 Georgina cres, Yarrawonga.

I will contact you after you place your order to organize the best time and place for you for pick up if you choose to collect from Nightcliff or Berrimah

Do you do custom orders?
I do! The best way to contact me for this type of order is via Instagram DM (@gertrude.designs) or via the contact form on my website. Please note due to other commitments I may not always be able to accommodate custom orders and recommend you contact me a month prior to needing the earrings to allow adequate time to complete them.
